Emergency Food Pantry and Deacons Fund
Rivergate Community Church includes in our vision the need to be available in an emergency to
help our community neighbors and our family. Two ways in which we do this is the RCC Emergency
Food Pantry and our RCC Deacons Fund.
The RCC Emergency Food Pantry is a small supply of emergency food maintained by Rivergate
Church. This ministry is enabled by our Christian brothers and sisters at Mt. Park Church
( http://www.mtnparkchurch.org/ ), especially their AWANA groups. They collect the food that is
distributed. The Emergency Food Pantry is able to supply some emergency food to people in need.
We do not have a fixed time for distributing the food. However, anyone in need can ask for
assistance any time one of the Pastors or Deacons are at the Church building (for certain on
Sunday mornings).
The RCC Deacons Fund is an active ministry where the Deacons of the Church maintain a financial
account that is supported by the people of RCC. The deacons fund is intended to provide monetary
assistance to people who have an emergency need. Requests for assistance are evaluated by the
deacons, and where the need is determined to be real, assistance is provided to the best of our
ability. Again, We do not have a fixed time for distributing the food. However, anyone in need can
ask for assistance any time one of the Deacons are at the Church building (for certain on Sunday
mornings). For anything but very small financial assistance it may take a few days to arrange for the
help.
Please note these ministries of assistance are from a small church, and thus our ability to help may
be small, and we are primarily able to make limited, short term aid in an emergency. However,
because Christ loved and gave to us, we honor the call to love and give as well through these
ministries.
